An entryway or a foyer is the space where transition is made from the outside to the inside of your home. The entryway is the first place where your guests form their first impression of the house, and creating a memorable space is essential. This can be done by choosing the right color, furniture and decoration.

The entryway above features a contemporary bright blue sofa of contemporary design. The sofa is brightened with some colorful throws and is on either side of the sofa are beige urns that match the color of the sofa frame. The branches in the urn remind you of the fall, and can be switched to brighter green plants if so desired. This simple design captures your attention with the bold colors against the light background, the colorful throws against the blue, and the simple yellow urns with branches that create a beautiful and organized entrance. The few elements make the space less busy.

To create a new look, move away from the usual accessories like mirrors and add something fresh like plants. Also since most entryways have storage as the main focus or a table for the mail, keys and other to-go-items, you can change this up and put a sofa. A place to sit is helpful to take off or put on shoes or to wait.

Artwork like the photo above the sofa brings style and personality and a great way to showcase your personality, family photos or hobbies, and start a conversation with your guests. You can also use other pieces like paintings and other forms of artwork to make a statement.

The entryway sets the mood for the rest of the house and a simple, bold and fun design impresses your guests and makes you feel good about coming home. Keep in mind that to ensure a cohesive look throughout your home, you must consider the overall style (modern, traditional, rustic, etc.), and stick to the theme as you decorate each room.
