Rustic Center Table

Rustic CeRustic Center Tablenter Table

This table makes a nice center table and is cheap to build. The wooden panels give the piece a rustic look while the lower shelf underneath allows for easy storage of items like magazines and other items. The large size of the table provides plenty of room for a colorful center piece. It could hold party foods, like appetizers, if you ever have a get together. The table could also be useful as outdoor furniture.

To make this table, you would need nine boards, four legs, and a sheet of wood to make the lower shelf. In addition, you’ll also need 2 long and short wooded pieces to match the length and the width.  This will be needed to create a frame at the top of the four legs on which the 9 planks of wood will rest.  Cut the wood pieces so they are of the dimensions that you need. Using exact measurements results in a nicer looking piece than if you try to estimate it. Assemble the boards as the above picture shows. You can use nails or screws, just know that whatever method you use will determine how sturdy the table will be.

After assembly is complete, sand the wood down to even out and smooth the edges. Sanding also makes the wooden table easier to paint. Painting the table is optional. However, it will give it a nicer and more professional finish. Choose a paint color that matches the décor and looks good with the wood. If you’d prefer to keep the wood color and pattern, you could add stain the wood. To add shine to the table, you could use oil or wax. If you want the table to last a long time and avoid getting too many scratches, adding varnish is a good idea. It makes the tabletop harder and less prone to denting and scratching.

You can also make this rustic table to match the center table!

Good question! You’ll need wooded pieces to create a frame above the 4 legs and rest the 9 planks over it.
